  3. There is definitely a freedom that comes with publishing independently. YOU are the master of your career and you can do whatever you want. Of course, over time you'll likely start to think like a publisher...you'll want to please your loyal readers and you'll be a little at their mercy. But YOU are the boss, and that's nice!
